Cumin seeds are widely used for grilled and barbecue dishes, but curry, stews, chili, couscous, or lamb are also delicious with cumin seeds.
Cumin seeds do not have a sharp (not spicy) taste, unlike caraway seeds, with which it is sometimes confused. There are many similarities, but caraway seeds have a spicier flavor and should therefore be used more sparingly.
Cumin (Cuminum cyminum) or comino is a plant from the parsley family (Apiaceae). The word 'cumin' is derived from the Arabic كمون, kammūn. The plant is used as a spice with a slightly nutty flavor.
