Which scrub is right for you?

  • Kese hammam wash mitt: the classic Moroccan scrub glove, also called a kessa. You slip it over your hand and use it to scrub your body after a hammam bath or shower.
  • Black kessa from Najel: a black scrub glove from Najel, which you use in the same way.
  • Dead Sea salt: unrefined Dead Sea salt from Aytira (100g), to be used as a scrub or bath salt. Mix it with a little oil for a salt scrub.
  • Lava scrub stone: a lava stone with a hanging cord, useful for rough patches on your feet and heels. Use the cord to hang it in the shower.
  • Facial scrub: the Aleppo facial scrub Oriental Sweetness (75 ml), specifically for your face.

How to use a kessa

First, let your skin become warm and soft under a warm shower or in a bath. Apply beldi black soap, let it soak in for a few minutes, and rinse off. Wet the kessa and scrub your skin using firm strokes, section by section. Rinse well afterward and nourish your skin with an oil or cream. Do not use the kessa on your face or on damaged skin, and scrub once or twice a week.

You can find beldi black soap at savon beldi, ghassoul at ghassoul, and more for your hammam ritual at body care and hammam towels.
