The Oneness of Allah or monotheism is fundamental in Islam. Repeatedly, the Quran, the holy book revealed by Allah, insists that the believer should possess a sincere faith, free from any possible form of association and polytheism.
Polytheism does not stop at believing that there is another god besides Allah and attributing any power whatsoever to statues or saints.
It also encompasses all kinds of beliefs and practices that keep the believer from pure monotheism, such as wearing a talisman, believing in fortune-telling or astrology, denying the providence of Allah, not placing one's trust in Him, fearing someone other than Him, etc.
This book, written more than two centuries ago, nonetheless remains relevant today. In many cases, Muslims remain subject to external demands that keep them to a greater or lesser extent from the Oneness of Allah.
This important work will undoubtedly be able to appeal to the true nature of Islam, the first religion in the world, whose primary principle is to dedicate pure worship to Allah, the Unique.
