Over Steaming pots

Steamer pots, including for induction: use these to steam vegetables, fish, rice, or couscous. You will find 49 steamer pots, steamer inserts, and couscoussiers here, primarily made of stainless steel. The steamer pots have 3 to 5 parts and a diameter of 18 to 28 cm.

What to look for in a steamer pot?

  • Number of parts: a 3-piece steamer pot consists of a stockpot, a steamer insert, and a lid. With a 4- or 5-piece steamer pot, you have more steaming layers, allowing you to steam potatoes, vegetables, and fish at the same time, for example.
  • Diameter: Ø 18 cm is enough for one or two people; Ø 20 to 24 cm is suitable for a family. If you are cooking for more people, choose a 26 cm (4.6 litre) or 28 cm (6 litre) steamer set from Klausberg, or the 8-litre Royal Swiss steamer pot.
  • Cooktop: for induction, only a pot with a magnetic base will work. For many Klausberg and Kinghoff steamer pots, "all heat sources" is mentioned in the name; the 3-piece steamer sets from Klausberg mention induction, gas, and electric.
  • Separate steamer insert: if you already have a stockpot, an insert is sufficient. Kinghoff has inserts with a diameter of 18 cm and 22 cm (3.2 litres); the 22 cm one can also be used as a colander.
  • Glass lid: with the Klausberg steamer sets and the 5-piece Kinghoff steamer pot of Ø 18 cm, you can see how your food is progressing.
  • Couscous: for large portions of couscous, there are couscoussiers ranging from 4 to 16 litres, including from Hakal, and the 12-litre Royal Swiss Couscous Pot.

How to steam vegetables and fish

Pour a layer of water into the stockpot so that the water does not touch the steamer insert, and bring it to a boil. Place the food in the insert, put the lid on, and let it cook in the steam. Sturdy vegetables like carrots and potatoes should be placed in the bottom layer, close to the water. Soft vegetables and fish go on top, as they cook faster.

Frequently asked questions

Which steamer pots are suitable for induction?
Steamer pots for all heat sources also work on induction, such as many models from Klausberg and Kinghoff. This also applies to the steamer sets from Klausberg, the 8-litre Royal Swiss steamer pot, and the Hakal couscoussiers.

Can you make couscous in a steamer pot?
Yes. The 5-piece Kinghoff steamer pot with a diameter of 18 cm is intended for couscous and rice. For larger portions, there are couscoussiers of up to 16 litres available.

What is the difference between a steamer pot and a steamer insert?
A steamer pot is a complete set with a stockpot, insert, and lid. A steamer insert is only the part with holes, which you place on a stockpot of the same diameter.
